In 2004 a group of us decided to organise a birthday party for a friend in a local farmer's field. We managed to come up with the basic ingredients, a great time was had by all, and we couldn't wait to do it all over again... and so the Pure Alchemy sound system was born.Once we had a few years of summer parties & club nights behind us, we realised it would be great to hold a bigger summer event with more live music, so we began to look out for somewhere to do it. This turned out to be a lot harder than we had anticipated. After nearly a year of searching for some privately owned land, we had extinguished practically every possibility and were feeling less than hopeful.
Then, towards the end of June 2007 we were offered the use of a local farm to put on our event, but with only a few weeks until the proposed date it seemed it was going to be a challenge. But there is no challenge too big for the Alchemy crew! So we booked bands and equipment, we painted backdrops, made flags, put up lights, borrowed a lorry for the stage and even the farmer pitched in, bringing us hay bales and delivering tables and chairs from the village hall!
We worked tirelessly, and despite the severe floods that tried to hinder us, managed to put on a lovely little festival, enjoyed by all. There was lovely weather, a brilliant vibe and great festival-goers who helped us to keep the site clean and tidy, not to mention all the wonderful music from bands and DJs alike.
We had so much amazing feedback and such a good time ourselves, that we decided to make it an annual event. We hope you can join us for Arcane '08!
